Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your use of the NSN Explorer website at nsnexplorer.com, including any account features as they become available (together, the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to these terms.

Last updated: July 12, 2026

The short version. NSN Explorer is a free reference that shows what the U.S. government paid for parts, built entirely from public official records, with a link to the source behind every figure. Use it lawfully, don't hammer our servers, and feel free to reuse the data with attribution. We sell nothing here and recommend nothing; the records speak for themselves.

1. What NSN Explorer is

The Services are a compiled, searchable presentation of public U.S. government procurement records — award notices, contract actions, and related logistics data published by government sources such as DIBBS and USAspending.gov. We organize those records by National Stock Number and link every figure we display to the official record it came from. We do not create, estimate, or model prices, and we do not control the underlying government sources, whose content and availability can change at any time.

2. Eligibility and business use

The Services are intended for professional and business use. You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction. If you use the Services on behalf of a company or other organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these terms for it, and "you" includes that organization.

3. Accounts

Some features may require an account as they launch, such as saved searches, watchlists, or alerts. When account features are available, you agree to provide accurate information, keep your credentials secure, and take responsibility for activity under your account. You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or that we reasonably believe pose a risk to the Services or other users.

4. Acceptable use

When using the Services, you agree not to:

5. Data reuse and attribution

The procurement records we present are public information published by the U.S. government, and we believe they should stay usable. You may reuse, quote, and republish the data we display — including prices, dates, and source links — for any lawful purpose, commercial or not, provided you attribute NSN Explorer with a link to the relevant page (or to https://nsnexplorer.com) where practical. This permission covers the data itself; it does not cover our branding or original writing (see Intellectual property), and it does not replace the terms of the underlying government sources, which remain the authoritative records.

6. Accuracy; no advice

We work hard to present records faithfully — our build refuses to publish a price without its source link — but official records can contain errors, can lag actual events, and can be revised by the government after we ingest them. The Services are provided for reference and research. Nothing on the Services is procurement, pricing, legal, or investment advice, and no figure here should be treated as a quote or an offer. Always verify against the linked source record before relying on a figure.

7. Third-party sites and records

The Services link out to records and websites operated by third parties, including U.S. government systems. We do not control those sites, and we are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability, or practices. Your use of third-party sites is governed by their own terms and policies. If something you reach through the Services appears wrong or unlawful, please tell us using the contact details below.

8. Advertising

The Services may include advertising, which helps keep them free. Advertising is subject to our Privacy Policy. Advertisements and any offers within them are the responsibility of the advertiser, and we are not responsible for third-party products or services promoted through advertising.

9. Intellectual property

The NSN Explorer name, logo, site design, original text, and software are owned by NSN Explorer and protected by intellectual property laws. Apart from the data reuse permission in section 5, you may not copy, reproduce, or reuse our branding or original materials without permission. The underlying government records are public information and remain subject to the policies of the agencies that publish them.

If you believe content on the Services infringes your rights, contact us at [email protected] with enough detail to identify the material in question, and we will respond appropriately.

10. Disclaimers

The Services are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any record displayed is complete, current, or free of errors introduced by its government source.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, NSN Explorer and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Services or any decision made in reliance on data displayed by them. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Services will not exceed one hundred US dollars.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless NSN Explorer and its operators from any claims, damages, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your misuse of the Services or violation of these terms.

13. Changes to the Services and these terms

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services at any time. We may also update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised terms.

14. Governing law

NSN Explorer is operated by a Wyoming limited liability company. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Wyoming, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Wyoming, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
